B.Sc. of Education in Special Education

Program Profile

The Department of Special Education in the College of Education is a continuation of the Department of Special Education that previously existed in the College of Basic Education, which was transformed into the College of Education by the directive of the President of the University and with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This represents a significant step toward advancing inclusive and specialized teacher preparation. The program aims to equip future educators with comprehensive knowledge of disabilities, evidence-based instructional practices, and ethical professional standards that align with national and international frameworks. By integrating theoretical foundations with practical field experiences, the department prepares graduates to design individualized education programs, implement effective interventions, and promote inclusive learning environments that support diverse learners. This new academic unit reflects the college’s renewed commitment to excellence in teacher education and its strategic vision to meet the growing societal need for qualified special education professionals.
